At Medical School my most memorable day has to be performing in the Medics Musical (I was one of the shark boys in West Side Story. All the hours of rehearsing paid off and it’s something I’ll never forget!

Ok let’s mention Wedding Day and birth of the boys so I don’t get into BIG trouble as my wife can read this, but I think I have two; one was 12th May 2017 when I was awarded my Fellowship of the Royal College of GPs- it’s the highest honour the College can bestow and those awarded have to be nominated by colleagues, who write nice stuff about what we do well, and then we have to write nice stuff about ourselves, then see other GPs also getting their FRCGP and hearing their amazing stories. It’s great to look back at the things that have and continue to make a positive difference.
The other was 12th October 2017 when I won the national award for our Faculty for my project describing GP in 150 words (#GP150w)- I loved the responses people wrote in their descriptions of GP and put it into an interactive Prezi- see the QR code on my intro video for the link. I’m very proud of it as a piece of work and it was one of my better ideas that caught on!
That night we celebrated by salsa dancing… memorable for very different reasons. :))

Of course the big life moments of graduation, getting married, and my nephew being born are right up there in the best ever days!
With regards to work, the day I was offered, and accepted, my current GP partnership job was memorable. It was my 33rd birthday in July 2009 and I was sitting in the beautician about to have a manicure when my mobile phone rang. It was the senior partner, (now retired but still one of my best friends), who offered me the job! It was the best birthday present ever!

Hmmm. I think so far in my life, the best and most memorable day of my life was the day I graduated from medical school. I felt so proud of myself and my friends and had the most wonderful day celebrating with my friends and family and felt nothing but pure joy all day (and tiredness I suppose, as I hadn’t been able to sleep the night before!).

One of my most memorable days was when I helped to deliver a baby as a medical student…it had been a long labour and I had been with the mother-to-be during the whole time – it was such an amazing thing to be part of! Very emotional too!!
