I think no matter how many patients we see in the day there will always be more who would want an appointment.
Unfortunately if we kept going and going at some point we would be likely to make a mistake, so setting a limit is healthy for ourselves and for patients.
There are a lot of issues that cannot be dealt with by a GP that aren’t particularly medical but have a significant impact on the health of the patient and their families and when things aren’t easily solved it can be frustrating.
Some of the biggest things that impact on patient health like Clean water, suitable housing and good diet cannot be prescribed.

Meeting the needs and expectations of every person is impossible. Some people expect more than we can provide, some are too ill for us to cure, some don’t try to help themselves, and sometimes I just don’t have the answers that the person wants to hear! The biggest challenge is to strike a balance! That is something that comes with experience, but will never be perfect!

Every day there is a new challenge. That’s one of the joys and also one of the hardest things. Currently it’s the funding in the NHS that’s a problem. If we had more money we could do more… there will never be enough though!
